The Sunday Stack is our attempt to help you with setting your FanDuel lineups. A "stack" is playing multiple players from the same NFL team to try and capitalize on scoring opportunities in good matchups.
There is a cash-game stack. Cash-games are 50/50's, double-ups, and other contests with high winning percentages. There is also a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) or tournament stack. Tournaments have large numbers of players and large payouts, but the odds of winning are much smaller.
The cash-game stacks are typically more expensive and more conservative as there is less risk involved. The tournament stack is usually less expensive but much riskier as the odds of winning are so much smaller. Also, using players with lower ownership percentages is much more important in tournaments. All values listed are the current Fanduel values.
This week, NFL week 17, is tough. Although all 16 NFL games are on Sunday, fantasy darlings Kirk Cousins and Jordan Reed, among others, are likely to sit or play limited minutes. All of the roster questions make for tough decisions in DFS (daily fantasy sports).
There are high-end options to play in good matchups this week. For example Cam Newton and Tom Brady both have very exploitable matchups, and they are certainly playable. The only issue with Newton and Brady is the only realistic stackable options are their tight ends. However, Cam-Olsen and Brady-Gronk stacks are expensive-playable, but expensive.
The highest over/under of the week is New Orleans at Atlanta, so I'm assuming everyone is playing the Saints and Falcons, and it's too easy to continue to pick on the Saints defense as we have for the last month. The second highest over/under is the Eagles at the Giants, so this is a week to exploit a single game in both cash games and tournaments.
- QB - Eli Manning (NYG - $7,500). When OBJ is not suspended, this stack is money.
- WR - Odell Beckham, Jr. (NYG - $8,900). You can't fade OBJ.
If you're a regular listener, you know that our season-long show team was burned by Bradford. Fortunately we had Carson Palmer to pick up the slack, but Bradford has been disappointing. However, the Giants pass defense isn't much better than the Eagles, so, if the shootout materializes, you want in on this games. Therefore:
- QB - Sam Bradford (Phi - $6,700). 56 pass attempts last week. If he has 40, you'll be happy.
- WR - Jordan Mathews (Phi - $6,600). He's averaging 23 FanDuel points the last two weeks.
- TE - Zach Ertz (Phi - $5,700). The price is right, but his ownership % could be high.
May your FanDuel accounts be filled!
