It’s that time of year. Football is back, and so is Man Crush Monday on the Fantasy News Hour. If you’ve been keeping up, this week's selections were pretty easy. We have additional writers this season for FNH, Shane Davis and Brandon McAuliffe have joined forces with us to bring you different voices for the 2017 season. With no further delay, here is week 1’s MCM
Jared Goff (LAR) - 16.4 points
Goff went for 306 and a TD in Sunday’s massacre of the Colts. It could have even been better than this if McVay would have left the rest of his starters in for the entire game. Goff has toys now, expect him to continue to play with them
Fantasy News Advice: He should be added in all 2 QB leagues and deeper 1 QB leagues.
Kareem Hunt (KC) - 40.6 points
Hunt went full newser on TNF. 148 and a touch on the ground, 5 for 98 and another score in the air. Yeah, not much to say here, except, he’s good at football and Reid wants everyone to know it
Fantasy News Advice: No real advice except start him, he’s a top 15 back going forward
Kenny Golladay (Det) - 18.9 points
As a Lions fan, I’ve been hearing about how impressive this young man was since OTA’s began. He showed out a little in the preseason, but, as the season approached, Marvin Jones was starting to get some traction in regards to target share. Golladay didn’t need a Lions share of the targets to get production. Kenny G had 4 catches for 69 yards and 2 TDs, the second being one to watch if you haven’t yet.
Fantasy News Advice: He needs to be added everywhere. He isn’t a must start yet, but with as much as Detroit throws the ball, he could evolve to the best rookie WR for fantasy.
Austin Hooper (Atl) - 18.8 points
Hooper only had 2 catches on Sunday, however, those were for 128 yards and a house call (from 88 yards, no less). It took a while for Ryan to target Hooper, but when you make a QB look good, he starts to look for you a little more.
Fantasy News Advice: Hooper is still only a streamable TE option, but do so with a little more confidence next time.
I hope everyone is as excited as I am about the new season starting. When you’re done reading this, send a text to your significant other and remind them how important they are to you. They let us do this crazy thing called fantasy football, let's take the baton and give them a little fantasy of their own.
